HighLevel AI Employee Pricing in 2026: What Each Plan Includes
HighLevel's AI pricing has two layers, and mixing them up is an easy mistake to make. Some AI tools are included with every agency plan for agency users. Others, the AI agents that work on a client's behalf, are paid, either through an AI Employee subscription per sub-account or pay-per-use. Here's the 2026 picture, taken from HighLevel's own AI pricing article (last updated October 29, 2026).
Quick take:
- AI Employee Starter, $20/month per sub-account. Only for agencies on the $497 Founder plan. Covers AI assistants with standard models, and no allowances for AI agents.
- Growth, $50/month. More assistant usage plus monthly allowances for Conversation AI, Voice AI, Reviews AI and Managed Agents.
- Unlimited, $97/month. The highest allowances. "Unlimited" is subject to HighLevel's fair-use policy.
- Phone and text charges are always separate.
Two kinds of AI in HighLevel
HighLevel splits its AI products into two groups:
- AI assistants help you build and run the business: Ask AI, AI Studio, Creator Studio, Content AI, Funnel & Website AI, Email AI and others. For agency users on the $97, $297 and $497 plans, these are included at no extra cost, subject to fair use.
- AI agents do ongoing work for a business: Conversation AI, Voice AI, Reviews AI, Managed Agents, the prompt optimizers and Workflow AI actions. These are paid for everyone.
Sub-account users are different. Some assistants (Funnel & Website AI, Email AI, Calendar AI, Layout AI, Knowledge Base, Workflow AI Builder) are free to them, subject to fair use. Others, including Ask AI, AI Studio, Creator Studio and Content AI, are billed by usage unless the sub-account has an AI Employee plan.
The three AI Employee plans compared
| Starter ($20/mo) | Growth ($50/mo) | Unlimited ($97/mo) | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Who can buy it | Agencies on the $497 Founder plan only | Eligible sub-accounts on any agency plan | Eligible sub-accounts on any agency plan |
| Ask AI, AI Studio, Creator Studio | Standard usage | High usage (2x Starter) | Unlimited* (5x Starter) |
| Content AI | Unlimited* | Unlimited* | Unlimited* |
| Conversation AI | Not included | 1,000 responses/mo | Unlimited* |
| Voice AI | Not included | 100 min/mo | Unlimited* |
| Reviews AI | Not included | Unlimited* | Unlimited* |
| Managed Agents | Not included | 100 runs/mo | 1,000 runs/mo |
| Prompt optimizers | Not included | 500 msg/mo (Conversation AI), 100 min/mo (Voice AI) | Unlimited* |
*HighLevel's fair-use policy applies. It says it may throttle, limit, require upgrades or end access if usage is excessive or abusive.
On Starter, anything "not included" is billed at pay-per-use rates when used. HighLevel also says Growth's 100 Voice AI minutes cover inbound calls, outbound calls and the Voice AI widget combined.

How the five-hour windows work
Ask AI, AI Studio and Creator Studio each measure included usage in separate rolling five-hour windows. According to HighLevel:
- A window starts with your first action in that product, not at a fixed time of day.
- The full allowance comes back five hours after the window starts.
- Unused usage doesn't carry over.
So if you hit an AI Studio limit mid-build, you wait for the window to reset or turn on extra usage.
What happens when you run out
By default, extra usage is paused when an allowance is used up. To keep going, an agency has to enable Extra Usage in AI Suite, and the extra usage is billed at pay-per-use rates. That default protects you from surprise bills, but it also means an agent can stop mid-month if nobody's watching the allowance.
Pay-per-use instead of a plan
Sub-accounts can skip AI Employee entirely and pay per use. HighLevel says charges vary by product and can be calculated by tokens, generated content, minutes or other units. For Ask AI, cost depends on things like task complexity, number of AI turns, actions and whether images or web data are used. HighLevel publishes per-product rates in the same article, and it warns that prices and model availability can change, so confirm in-app pricing before quoting a client.
Phone and SMS charges are separate
This trips people up. HighLevel says Phone System charges still apply to all calls regardless of plan, and texts and calls are billed separately. An Unlimited plan doesn't make Voice AI calls free of carrier and phone charges.
Rebilling AI to clients
If you resell AI to clients, note that rebilling AI Employee usage requires the $497/month plan. Usage-based services are usually funded through the Agency Wallet. Check your rebilling settings before you set client prices.
What changed around Level Up 2026
- HighLevel's Level Up 2026 recap introduced the Founder Plan (the renamed $497 plan), and the Starter AI Employee plan is limited to Founder agencies. See our Founder Plan guide.
- Separately, HighLevel's help center says the older $20 AI Assistant plan is being retired, in an article dated October 29, 2026. If a sub-account is on it, read that article for the timeline.
Which plan fits
- A client who only needs help building and writing: Starter (if you're on the Founder plan) or pay-per-use.
- A client who wants a chatbot or phone agent answering leads: Growth covers moderate volume. Watch the 1,000-response and 100-minute caps.
- High-volume conversations or many Managed Agent runs: Unlimited, keeping fair use in mind.
We can't tell you which is cheapest for a given client without their usage. Use HighLevel's AI usage reports to check before you upgrade or downgrade.
