How to Import n8n Workflows into HighLevel Managed Agents
If you've built automations in n8n, rebuilding them by hand in another tool is the worst part of switching. One of the releases in HighLevel's Level Up 2026 recap tackles that: "Convert n8n workflows into managed agents." You upload an n8n workflow export, and HighLevel prepares a Managed Agent from it. It doesn't copy your node graph one-for-one, so it's worth knowing what it does before you rely on it.
Quick take:
- Find it at AI Agents → Agent Studio → Managed Agents → Import from → n8n (Beta).
- Upload or paste your n8n JSON export (files up to 10 MB).
- HighLevel shows what carried over, what was adapted and what needs attention, before anything is created.
- Credentials don't transfer. You reconnect apps in HighLevel.
- The importer is labeled Beta.
What the importer actually does
HighLevel says the importer "translates n8n components into Managed Agent behavior rather than recreating the original node graph." In plain terms, your step-by-step workflow becomes an AI agent with triggers, instructions and actions. Some fixed logic turns into written rules the agent follows. That's flexible, but HighLevel warns that results "may differ slightly from the original node-based execution."
How n8n pieces convert
Triggers
| n8n component | Becomes |
|---|---|
| Webhook node | Inbound webhook trigger with its own URL |
| Periodic checks | Scheduled trigger |
| Form-based events | HighLevel forms |
| Booking events | HighLevel calendars |
| Message-based events | HighLevel Conversations |
Logic and AI
| n8n component | Becomes |
|---|---|
| IF and Switch nodes | Decision rules in the agent's instructions |
| Wait nodes | Follow-ups at set points |
| OpenAI nodes, LLM chains, AI Agent nodes | The agent's own reasoning and instructions |
Apps and data
| n8n component | Becomes |
|---|---|
| Supported app nodes | Marketplace app connections |
| CRM-related actions | HighLevel CRM actions |
| External API operations | API calls |
HighLevel says external services such as Stripe, Shopify, HubSpot and Pipedrive can send supported events to an inbound webhook, and the agent gets instructions on where to register the URL.

Step by step
- Export the workflow from n8n as a .json file, or copy its JSON.
- In the HighLevel sub-account where the agent should live, open AI Agents → Agent Studio, go to the Managed Agents tab and choose Import from → n8n (Beta).
- Upload or paste the JSON (uploads up to 10 MB).
- Review the conversion. The summary shows steps that were carried over, adapted (with reasons), and not possible or not needed. Read every adapted step.
- Finish setup. Under How it starts, confirm the trigger matches the original timing or event. Under Apps to connect, connect anything marked Not connected. HighLevel says steps that need an unconnected app are skipped and reported. Then fill in required values.
- Check resource IDs. HighLevel says IDs from the original workflow, such as sheet, channel or list IDs, are flagged for review rather than trusted silently.
- Choose Save as draft or Create & publish. HighLevel says analysis alone doesn't create an agent.
Limits to know before you start
- Beta. Availability may vary by account.
- No credentials or API keys are imported. Have logins ready to reconnect apps through HighLevel.
- Adapted logic can behave differently. Rules turned into instructions depend on the agent's reasoning, so test edge cases.
- Managed Agents are paid. HighLevel's AI pricing says Managed Agents need an AI Employee plan (100 runs/month on Growth, 1,000 on Unlimited) or are billed pay-per-use. See our AI Employee pricing guide.
Should you move n8n workflows?
Good candidates are workflows that already revolve around HighLevel: lead capture, booking follow-ups, CRM updates and messages. Workflows that need exact, deterministic logic, like calculations or strict data transforms, may be better left in n8n or rebuilt carefully, because the importer can turn fixed logic into instructions.
A sensible approach:
- Start with one low-risk workflow.
- Import it, save it as a draft, and test it against real cases.
- Keep the n8n version running until the agent matches it.

Frequently asked questions
Can I import n8n workflows into HighLevel?
Yes. HighLevel's n8n importer (Beta) turns an n8n workflow JSON export into a Managed Agent. Find it in Agent Studio under the Managed Agents tab, then Import from, then n8n.
Does the n8n importer copy my credentials?
No. HighLevel says n8n credentials and API keys aren't imported. You connect the required apps through HighLevel.
What's the file size limit for n8n imports?
HighLevel says the importer accepts JSON file uploads up to 10 MB. You can also paste the JSON.
Will the imported agent work exactly like my n8n workflow?
Not always. HighLevel says some fixed logic becomes agent instructions, and behavior may differ slightly from the original node-based execution. Review adapted steps and test before publishing.
Does importing create the agent right away?
No. HighLevel says analysis alone doesn't create an agent. It's created only when you choose Save as draft or Create & publish.
Does running an imported Managed Agent cost extra?
Managed Agents are a paid AI agent product. HighLevel includes 100 runs a month on AI Employee Growth and 1,000 on Unlimited; otherwise runs are billed pay-per-use.
